Yaam Privacy Policy

Yaam — Tamil learning for kids · by Lumivance Technologies · Last updated 24 October 2026

Yaam is an app that helps children learn to read, write and speak Tamil. It is made by Lumivance Technologies Private Limited. We wrote this policy for parents, guardians and teachers.

The short version: Yaam does not ask your child for any personal information and does not collect any. There is no account or sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, no social features and no chat. Your child's progress stays on the device.

What Yaam uses on the device, and why

Information	Why	Where it goes
Lesson progress and settings	So your child can continue where they left off	Saved only in Yaam's storage on the device
Handwriting traced on the screen	To check the letter or word your child wrote	Recognised on the device by Google ML Kit. The drawing is not saved or sent to us.
Spoken words (text-to-speech)	To read letters and words aloud	Uses the device's own speech engine; Yaam does not record your child's voice

Yaam does not use the camera or microphone, does not access contacts, photos or location, and does not show ads.

Internet use

Yaam works offline. It connects to the internet only to:

download Google's Tamil handwriting model the first time a writing activity is used (a one-time download from Google; no information about your child is sent with it);
let Google Play or the App Store handle purchases and the free trial.

Purchases and parental gate

Yaam is sold through Google Play and the Apple App Store. They handle all payments; we never see payment details. On iPhone and iPad, a parental gate appears before any purchase so that only an adult can complete it.

Sharing

Yaam does not collect personal information, so there is nothing for us to share or sell. Google and Apple process purchase and install information under their own privacy policies.

Deleting data

All of Yaam's data is on the device. Uninstalling Yaam, or clearing its storage in the device settings, deletes your child's progress and settings.

For parents: our commitments

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We do not track children, monitor their behaviour, or show them targeted or any other advertising.
If we ever add a feature that needs personal information, we will update this policy first and ask for verifiable consent from a parent or guardian before collecting anything.

If you believe your child's information has reached us in any way, email us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
